Stacy Lardizabal knew two things for sure when she left the Army as a Major after a twenty-seven-year stint that included two combat tours each to Afghanistan and Iraq: First, she and her husband, Jay, also retired military, wanted to place roots in Texas, and her second career would have to involve helping Veterans and active-duty military members.
After completing Officer Candidate School and commissioning as an officer, Stacy received her MBA in accounting. When she left the service, Stacy realized she wanted to own her calendar and considered a career selling real estate. But halfway through the course, she knew that selling homes wasn’t the right fit for her to meet her objective of helping Veterans and servicemembers. However, a YouTube video on the mortgage industry engaged her to the point that she ended up taking a mortgage class and knew immediately that this was the better career option. A newfound passion for the mortgage industry led Stacy to immerse herself in the business through a twelve-week internship via Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Corporate Fellowship Program. This organization bridges the transitioning military community with local businesses.
One of her HOH colleagues raved about Nancy Pacheco, the branch manager at Aligned Mortgage in Killeen, and suggested Stacy contact her. The meeting turned into an ideal match because Aligned Mortgage’s mission met Stacy’s objective to work with Vets and military members, especially first-time homebuyers who had no idea they could purchase a home.
As a loan officer, Stacy loves teaching her clients about the finer points of managing and maintaining their credit, which they appreciate, especially when the knowledge results in realizing the dream of homeownership.
Outside of the office, Stacy loves hanging out with her family, which includes two adult daughters and her husband. If they’re not at a hockey game during the season, they might be hiking, kayaking, or paddleboarding.
Our mission is to aggressively serve veterans and their families through education and facilitation of the VA Home Loan Benefit while advocating for our local military and veteran community.
