A native of Biloxi, Mississippi, Master Chief (Ret) Guzman entered the U. S. Navy on September 17, 1991. He attended Basic Training and Hospital Corpsman “A” School in San Diego CA.
His early tours of duty include Naval Hospital, Pensacola FL, 1st Medical Battalion, Camp Pendleton CA, Advanced X-ray School, San Diego CA, Naval Hospital 29 Palms CA, Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia, Branch Medical Clinic Pascagoula, MS, and II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), Camp Lejeune, NC.
He reported to US Naval Hospital Guam in 2007 and upon his selection to Senior Chief Petty Officer in May 2007, he deployed as an Individual Augment assignment to Afghanistan. In Afghanistan, he served as the Course Development Director and Senior Enlisted Leader for the Afghanistan National Army Combat Medic School in Kabul, Afghanistan. Upon his return to Naval Hospital Guam, he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader, Directorate of Surgical Services and Directorate of Clinical Support Services during the remainder of his tour.
In July 2011, he reported to 1st Medical Battalion where he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Headquarters and Service Company. In June 2012, he was selected as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Charlie Surgical Company and deployed to Afghanistan from August 2012 to February 2013. Master Chief (Ret) Guzman then transferred in July 2014 to Navy Medicine Training Support Center, Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer in May 2015 and served as the Command Master Chief for Navy Medicine Training Support Center, Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston until his retirement in July 2018. He is now employed by Aligned Mortgage as a Military Liaison where he coordinates and facilitates educational seminars for service members on VA Home Loan Benefit throughout the United States.
Master Chief (Ret) Guzman’s personal awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal (2 Awards), Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and the Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist designation. He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 181, Khaki group and holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University.
